Best Cocktails on Virgin Voyages: A Bar-by-Bar Guide

With nearly 15 bars spread across 17 decks, a Virgin Voyages ship offers more drinking options than most cities. The cocktail programs are genuinely creative — each venue has its own personality and signature drinks that go well beyond the standard ship bar menu. The question isn’t whether you’ll find something good to drink. It’s knowing where to go for what.

Joel and Erin have done the research. Here’s the bar-by-bar breakdown of what to order where.

Sip Lounge — For Champagne and Premium Cocktails

Sip is where the cocktail craft is highest on the ship. This is where you order sparkling wine by the glass, experiment with the champagne menu, and let the bartenders make you something from their specialty cocktail list. The Dom vs. Moët comparison is a classic move here for anyone curious about the difference. The pre-show cocktail — whatever the bartender recommends that evening — is rarely wrong.

Pink Agave — For Agave Spirits

The cocktail program at Pink Agave leans heavily into tequila and mezcal, and the bartenders know their agave. This is the bar on the ship for a properly made margarita, a well-constructed mezcal cocktail, or anything from the off-menu special that the Grog Walk crowd gets to try. If agave spirits are your preference, Pink Agave is your base of operations.

On the Rocks — For the Full Bar Experience

On the Rocks is the largest bar on any Virgin Voyages ship, positioned at the base of the Roundabout staircase on Deck 6. It’s the hub for Scarlet Night, hosts live music most evenings, and carries the most comprehensive bar menu on the ship. This is where you go for a classic well-made cocktail, a premium whiskey (the Macallan 18 Year at $78 is the aspirational choice), or simply the broadest selection. The energy here is the most consistently social of any bar on the ship.

The Loose Cannon — For a Casual Pint

The Loose Cannon is the pub of the ship — a relaxed, industrial-style bar serving beers, wines, and basic cocktails without pretension. If you want a cold beer and a comfortable seat without navigating a cocktail menu, The Loose Cannon is your spot. It’s also a Grog Walk stop on most sailings, which gives it a social energy on those nights it might not otherwise have.

Gym & Tonic — For the Reset Cocktail

The signature move at Gym & Tonic is the Reset Cocktail — Virgin Voyages’s take on the wellness cocktail, using functional ingredients alongside actual spirits. They’re genuinely good drinks that happen to have a wellness angle, not wellness drinks that happen to have alcohol. Ask the bartender for their current Reset cocktail recommendation.

Razzle Dazzle Bar — For Clarified Cocktails

Razzle Dazzle’s in-house bar serves a selection of clarified cocktails — technically precise, visually distinctive preparations where the drink has been stripped of its cloudiness through a clarification process. They’re a novelty with genuine craft behind them. Worth ordering at least once.

Insider Tips from Joel and Erin

  • Ask every bartender for their personal recommendation. The Virgin Voyages bar teams are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A “what would you make me right now?” question consistently produces better drinks than ordering from the menu.
  • The off-menu items are real. Several Virgin Voyages bars have drinks they’ll make for you that don’t appear on the printed menu. The Grog Walk off-menu margarita at Pink Agave is the most famous, but it’s not the only one.
  • Try something different at every bar. The cocktail programs across Virgin Voyages’s venues are genuinely distinct. A bar crawl of your own design is one of the best ways to spend a sea day.
