Yoga on a Virgin Voyages ship is one of those experiences that sounds like a marketing line until you’re actually doing it — sun salutations at sunrise on an open deck with the Atlantic stretching to the horizon in every direction, the ship cutting through calm water, and nothing between you and the sky. Then it stops being a marketing line and starts being the reason you book a second sailing.
Virgin Voyages has built genuine yoga programming into every sailing, spread across multiple formats and venues. Here’s what’s available and how to make the most of it.
Sunrise Yoga at The Perch

The signature yoga experience on any Virgin Voyages ship. The Perch is a serene outdoor space on Deck 17, positioned at the top of the ship above the Athletic Club, with panoramic ocean views on all sides. Every morning starts with a sunrise yoga session here — typically beginning around 7 to 7:30am depending on the sailing and sunrise time.
The combination of early morning ocean light, the gentle movement of the ship, and the open-air environment creates a meditative quality that indoor yoga simply cannot replicate. Sailors who practice yoga regularly at home describe this as one of the best yoga environments they’ve found anywhere in the world. Sailors who don’t practice yoga regularly often discover at The Perch that they want to start.
Balance Studio Classes

The Balance Studio inside the B-Complex on Deck 15 hosts additional yoga sessions throughout the day — vinyasa flows, yin yoga, restorative practices, and themed classes that vary by sailing. The indoor studio provides a more controlled environment when weather or wind makes The Perch less comfortable, and the ocean-facing windows maintain the connection to the water even inside.
Yoga at The Beach Club at Bimini
On Bimini days, yoga and meditation sessions are offered beachside at The Beach Club — complimentary and available to all Virgin Voyages Sailors on the day. Morning yoga on a white sand beach in the Bahamas, with the turquoise water of the Atlantic directly in front of you, is exactly as extraordinary as it sounds. Check the Beach Club activity schedule on Bimini days for specific timing.
SUP Yoga at Bimini
Stand-up paddleboard yoga is available at The Beach Club at Bimini as a Shore Things excursion — it carries an additional cost beyond the included beach experience. Practicing yoga poses on a paddleboard in calm Bahamian water is a genuinely challenging and unique experience that combines balance training with the sensory environment of being on the ocean surface. Not for beginners to either yoga or paddleboarding, but extraordinary for those comfortable with both.
How to Book
All included yoga classes (Perch sunrise yoga, Balance Studio sessions, Bimini beachside yoga) are booked through the Virgin Voyages app. Open the app on embarkation day and secure your preferred yoga slots for the full sailing — especially sunrise yoga at The Perch, which has limited outdoor capacity and books out on popular sailings. SUP yoga at Bimini is booked through the Shore Things section of the app.
Insider Tips from Joel and Erin
- Set your alarm for The Perch sunrise yoga at least once. Even if early mornings are not your natural state, do it once. The experience justifies whatever sleep sacrifice it costs.
- Bimini beachside yoga is included — don’t skip it. No booking required, no cost, and the setting is extraordinary. It’s the easiest wellness win of any sailing.
- Bring your own mat if you have preferences. Virgin Voyages provides yoga mats, but dedicated practitioners who have strong mat preferences will be happier with their own.
