Spa & Wellness

Redemption Spa is one of those Virgin Voyages features that sounds like marketing copy until you actually experience it, and then you understand. It is not a "ship spa." It is a full destination spa that happens to be at sea, and it has ruined every land-based spa for us. We're Joel and Erin, and we have logged enough Thermal Suite hours across all four Ladies to qualify for some kind of frequent-soaker program.

The Thermal Suite is the heart of the spa and the thing you absolutely want access to. It's a self-guided hydrothermal circuit with heated mosaic loungers, a thalassotherapy pool with massage jets and lighting that changes color, a steam room, a salt room, a quartz bed, and outdoor terraces. The mosaic loungers — heated stone chaises shaped to the body — are the single most regenerative thing on the ship. We have made it through more sea days lying on one of those than we'd like to admit.

Treatments at Redemption Spa run the standard menu — massages, facials, body wraps, scrubs — but the standout is the Quartz Bed Treatment, where you lie on a bed of warmed quartz crystal while getting worked on. Bookings open at the start of your voyage, and the popular slots (sea day mornings, day-after-Scarlet-Night massages) go fast. Book early.

Drydock Salon is the onboard hair and nail salon, conveniently located across from the spa. Useful for getting Scarlet Night-ready hair, for a fresh blowout before a formal dinner, or for the day-after-Scarlet-Night damage control. Manicures and pedicures are popular pre-Scarlet too. Gym & Tonic is the juice and wellness bar attached to the gym, also conveniently right next to the spa entrance — perfect post-treatment cold-pressed something.

The Thermal Suite Pass — Which One to Buy

The Thermal Suite is the one part of the spa that is not included in your fare — you need to buy a pass to access it. There are two options: a day pass (good for one sea day) and a voyage pass (good for the entire sailing). Prices vary slightly by ship and voyage length but generally land around $35-50 for a day pass and $99-149 for a voyage pass.

Our advice: if your voyage has two or more sea days, buy the voyage pass. The math works out almost immediately. On a 7-night Caribbean or a 14-night Mediterranean with multiple sea days, the voyage pass is one of the best-value upgrades on the ship. Buy it during the pre-voyage planning window in the Sailor app — it's sometimes discounted compared to onboard purchase, and there are limited passes available per voyage so they do sell out on full sailings.

Best Thermal Suite times: sea day mornings between 8 and 10 AM are nearly empty (everyone's at breakfast or sleeping in). Late afternoons after 4 PM are usually quieter than the post-lunch rush. If you want the entire mosaic lounger to yourself, those are the windows.
