The Ships

Virgin Voyages calls its ships "Ladies," and after sailing every one of them, we can tell you the nickname fits. Each Lady has her own personality, her own home waters, and her own quirks that loyal Sailors learn to love. We're Joel and Erin, certified Virgin Voyages First Mates based in Puerto Rico, and we've put miles on Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady. This is where we collect everything we've learned about the fleet so you can pick the right ship for the right trip.

Scarlet Lady is the original — the ship that launched the brand in 2020 and proved a cruise line could be genuinely different. She sails Caribbean and Bahamas routes out of Miami, and she's where The Manor, Pink Agave, Test Kitchen, and the rest of the signature venues first came to life. If you want the most "classic" Virgin Voyages experience, she's the one.

Valiant Lady is Scarlet's sister, near-identical on paper but with subtle layout tweaks and her own crew personality. She's been splitting time between the Caribbean and Mediterranean depending on the season, and we honestly love her energy — slightly less hectic than Scarlet, and the staff seems to settle into longer voyages well.

Resilient Lady lives in the Mediterranean for most of the year and is the Lady we recommend for anyone whose dream is Greek islands, the Adriatic, or a Barcelona-to-Athens run. She's also done Australia and Asia repositioning seasons, which is how we ended up on a transpacific with her — a story for another day.

Brilliant Lady is the newest member of the fleet, debuting in Alaska in 2025. She's the first Virgin Voyages ship to do glacier territory, with bow-facing venues that turn into front-row seats for Hubbard Glacier and Tracy Arm Fjord. She also does Northeast U.S. and Bermuda routes between Alaska seasons.

How to Choose Your Ship

Here's the thing — across all four Ladies, the core experience is the same. Adults-only (18+). The Band on your wrist replacing your wallet and room key. Bar Tab credit on most fares. No extra charges at any of the 20+ restaurants. The Happenings Cast performing across the ship. Scarlet Night, the iconic all-red party night. The Wake's floor-to-ceiling aft windows. Pink Agave's Tom Dixon-designed dining room. That's all standard fleet-wide.

So choosing your ship really comes down to where you want to go and what kind of voyage length suits you. Want a 4 or 5-night Caribbean weekend with Bimini Beach Club? Scarlet or Valiant Lady out of Miami. Dreaming of Santorini sunsets and Dubrovnik old town? Resilient Lady. Hubbard Glacier, whale watching, and a totally different climate? Brilliant Lady. The Lady picks you as much as you pick her.
