The Cabin Itself
The Solo Insider is compact — 106 square feet — and windowless. It’s designed around a single Sailor’s needs: a proper single bed (not a three-quarter or awkward twin), a rain shower, the full tech setup (4K TV, mood lighting, in-cabin tablet, outlets and USB ports throughout), and a minibar. The layout is efficient rather than spacious, but it’s genuinely comfortable for one person who plans to spend most of their time outside the cabin.
Located on Decks 5, 8, and 11 through 14, the Solo Insider’s position on the ship varies. Midship locations on higher decks tend to offer the smoothest ride and easiest access to the ship’s main venues.
The Solo Supplement Question
On select sailings, Virgin Voyages waives the solo supplement on Solo Insider cabins — meaning a solo traveler pays the same per-person rate as half of a couple’s double-occupancy booking. This is a significant departure from industry norms and one of Virgin Voyages’s most meaningful commitments to solo travelers. However, Solo Insider cabins are sometimes excluded from promotional discounts, so the effective price requires careful comparison against other cabin categories.
The math: on sailings where both the supplement waiver and a promotional discount apply to other cabin types, a Sea View cabin at a discounted rate may occasionally come out cheaper than a Solo Insider at full price. Ask us before you book.
