The “Southeastern Caribbean Isles” is Virgin Voyages’s most port-intensive 7-night Caribbean itinerary — five distinct island destinations spread across the arc of the Lesser Antilles, departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico. It visits the British Virgin Islands, two French islands, the birthplace of rum, the most dramatic island scenery in the Caribbean, and one of the region’s finest heritage sites. For Sailors who want maximum Caribbean variety in a single sailing, this is the itinerary.
The Five Islands
Road Town, Tortola (BVI): Gateway to the British Virgin Islands sailing paradise. Access to The Baths at Virgin Gorda, the Painkiller at Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, and some of the finest sailing water in the world.

Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe: French Caribbean. The Jacques Cousteau Marine Reserve (exceptional snorkeling and diving), the volcanic landscape of Basse-Terre, La Soufriere volcano, and the extraordinary waterfalls of the rainforest interior.
Bridgetown, Barbados: Mount Gay rum (the world’s oldest rum brand), sea turtle snorkeling on the west coast, Harrison’s Cave, and Barbadian food culture at its finest. One of the most sophisticated port day experiences in the Caribbean.
Castries, St. Lucia: The Piton mountains rising directly from the sea — the most dramatic landscape in the Caribbean. Hiking, volcanic mud baths at the Sulphur Springs, Marigot Bay, and the extraordinary Anse Chastanet beach with the Pitons as backdrop.

St. John’s, Antigua: Nelson’s Dockyard (UNESCO World Heritage Site), some of the finest sailing in the Caribbean, and the legendary 365 beaches of the island.
The Pace of the Itinerary
Five ports in seven nights means one sea day on this itinerary — a fast pace that rewards Sailors who arrive knowing what they want to do at each stop. This is not a sailing for passive port visitors. Come with researched priorities for each island, book Shore Things in advance, and be ready to move.
Insider Tips from Joel and Erin
- Pre-book Shore Things for every port before you board. With five ports and one sea day, you have minimal flexibility for on-the-fly decisions. Decide before the sailing what matters most at each stop.
- The sea turtle snorkeling in Barbados is the itinerary’s best Shore Thing. Book it before your sailing window opens. It fills fast.
- Get south to the Pitons in St. Lucia. Do not spend your St. Lucia day in Castries. Get transportation to Soufriere and the Piton area. The difference is enormous.
