Sweet Aft Suite: Wake Views and Terrace Living on Virgin Voyages

The Sweet Aft Suite sits at the very center of the stern on each Virgin Voyages ship — positioned between the two Cheeky Corner Suites, looking directly out at the ocean behind the vessel. Unlike the Cheeky Corner’s wrap-around perspective, the Sweet Aft looks straight back: an uninterrupted view of the wake spreading out across the water, the horizon extending in both directions, and nothing between you and the open sea.

It’s one of the most distinctive cabin positions in the entire Virgin Voyages lineup, and it suits a specific kind of Sailor perfectly.

The Space

Sweet Aft Suites range from 416 to 661 square feet across three balcony size tiers (Pretty Big Terrace on Decks 8-9, Even Bigger Terrace on Decks 10-11, and Biggest Terrace on Decks 12-14). The interior stays consistent across all tiers at approximately 311 square feet; what grows with each tier is the terrace.

The terrace includes a champagne table with chairs — the classic romantic-evening-at-sea setup — plus padded lounge chairs and the signature red hammock. The bathroom features the full marble finish and the Peek-a-Boo shower window. The in-room bar is stocked at voyage start. The record player is present and ready.

One distinctive detail: the Peek-a-Boo shower window in the Sweet Aft Suite looks out at the balcony rather than the bedroom, giving ocean views from the shower itself. This is different from the Seriously Suite’s bedroom-facing configuration.

The View

The wake view from a Sweet Aft terrace is different from the Cheeky Corner’s panoramic sweep — more focused, more directly centered on where the ship has been. At night, the white water of the wake glows against the dark ocean. At sunset, the colors spread across the entire width of the view. It’s the kind of view that makes you understand why people choose aft cabins specifically, even at the cost of a longer walk to the forward areas of the ship.

The Tradeoffs

The same considerations apply here as with the Cheeky Corner: farthest position from Richard’s Rooftop (though the Sweet Aft is centrally positioned stern-to-stern, so it’s equidistant from the two aft corner suites), more potential motion in rough water at the stern, and longer walks to forward venues. If you’re motion-sensitive, the Seriously Suite’s midship placement is the safer choice.

Insider Tips from Joel and Erin

  • The shower-to-ocean-view experience is unique in the fleet. The Peek-a-Boo window in the Sweet Aft looks at the balcony and ocean rather than the bedroom. It’s a genuinely special experience that differentiates this suite from others in the tier.
  • Deck 10-11 is the sweet spot for this suite type. Meaningful terrace upgrade over the entry tier, accessible price relative to the top-deck option, and a view that’s already extraordinary at this height.
  • Plan for the champagne table. The Sweet Aft terrace is designed for sitting at that table with a drink and watching the water. Make it a ritual on every evening of your sailing.
