There’s a reason Extra Virgin is one of the most consistently praised restaurants in the entire Virgin Voyages fleet. Warm, convivial, and built around housemade pasta, antipasti, and regional Italian flavors, it captures something that’s genuinely hard to replicate at sea: the feeling of a great neighborhood trattoria. Loud in the best way. Generous. Deeply satisfying.
And in 2026, Extra Virgin got even better — each ship in the fleet now features ship-exclusive dishes, giving you a reason to dine here on every Virgin Voyages voyage you ever take.
The Setting

Extra Virgin has a bustling trattoria energy — communal warmth, the smell of fresh pasta, animated conversation at every table. It’s not a quiet, hushed fine dining room. It’s the kind of place where you linger over another glass of wine and end up staying longer than you planned. The design is inviting without being fussy.
The Menu
The core Extra Virgin menu is a love letter to Italian cooking: handmade pastas, antipasti boards, braised proteins, and desserts that earn a second look. Fleet-wide standouts include the Pappardelle al Ragù, Braised Pork Cheek, and the Affettati Misti charcuterie board. The Braised Mini Meatballs — smoked mozzarella, tomato, pancetta — are available on all four ships and are, by widespread Sailor consensus, some of the best meatballs at sea.

Ship-exclusive dishes (2026): Each vessel now has its own unique antipasti, pastas, and secondi. If you’re a repeat Sailor hitting multiple ships, Extra Virgin is worth a reservation on each one — you won’t get the exact same meal twice.
Treat Yourself items: The 90 Day Aged Steak Florentine ($125) is available here too, as is the Raviolo al Uovo ($30) — a single perfect egg yolk pasta with brown butter, sage, and truffle. On Valiant Lady, the Alaskan King Crab Radiatori ($35) is a ship-exclusive premium item. On Scarlet Lady, fresh truffles ($25) are available.
Dessert
Save room. The Chocolate Olive Oil Cake is vegan, surprisingly rich, and one of the most talked-about desserts on any Virgin Voyages ship. Finish with a tableside Affogato — espresso poured over gelato at your table — and you’ll understand why Extra Virgin regulars plan their whole evening around this meal.
How to Book
Reservations open 45 days before sailing (60 days for suite guests). Extra Virgin is popular but tends to have more availability than The Wake at peak times — though prime evenings still fill fast. Book in advance through the Virgin Voyages app.
Insider Tips from Joel and Erin
- Ask your server about the ship-exclusive dishes. They’re not always prominently featured on the printed menu — your server will walk you through what’s unique to your sailing.
- Order the meatballs as a starter even if you plan to order a pasta. They’re that good. No regrets.
- The Raviolo al Uovo ($30) is worth every penny. If you’re going to add one Treat Yourself item at Extra Virgin, make it this one.
